MP Kram Slams Trudeau’s “Bubble Boy” Tour

Regina-Wascana MP Michael Kram today described Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Saskatchewan as “insular, tone-deaf and self-congratulatory.”

“The prime minister’s visit to our city was as sterile and risk averse as a COVID office party. Every event was carefully staged and rigged to ensure that the prime minister’s ears would never be contaminated by the feelings, needs and concerns of real Saskatchewan people,” Kram said.

Kram noted that Trudeau carefully avoided talking about any issues that matter to Saskatchewan residents.

“It is difficult to fully describe the prime minister’s detachment from reality. He pretends that the few hundred dollars offered through his GST rebate are a fix for inflation when it doesn’t even cover half the inflation cost being carried by low- and middle-income families. On CBC, he tried to deny and gaslight about Justice Minister Lametti’s comments about taking away provincial jurisdiction on natural resources, even when he was played the clip. On all of his visits to the West, he doubles down on his attacks on our resource sector rather than backing off of them.”

Kram lamented that the prime minister had made no effort to meet and talk with real people in Regina.

“The prime minister cares about photo-ops. The Conservative Party cares about solutions. The prime minister is travelling in a bubble and talking to hand-picked audiences. Instead of a staged event at a grocery store, he should visit the food bank to see the effect of his inflationary policies on families. He should see how long the line-up is at the local Service Canada office. He should stop at a gas station and ask people how they feel about the carbon tax. He should talk to newcomer Canadians who have been waiting years to bring their families to Canada. He should talk to EVRAZ workers about how his anti-resource policies are killing their jobs. But he won't. The prime minister is not here to listen to us. This visit isn't about consultation - it's about self promotion.”
