Electric Bus Scandal Widens, Kram Finds

Electric Bus Scandal Widens, Kram Finds Michael Kram, MP for Regina-Wascana has discovered that the federal government made no effort to track whether electric buses were in any way contributing to a reduction of emissions nor to track whether the buses functioned properly in winter. Problems with the City of Regina’s fleet of electric buses came to light last December when Amalgamated Transit Union Local 588 Regina president Sukhwinder Gainda publicly stated that the buses cannot function longer than three hours in cold weather. City Councillor Clark Bezo attempted to make a motion to have the contract for further buses cancelled, but his motion was ruled out of order. The City has taken delivery of seven of its projected 20 electric buses. The purchase is jointly funded by the federal and municipal government, which each contributed $26,106,500 toward the 20 buses and the infrastructure for their charging stations for a total investment of over $52.2 million. MP Kram Returns From Brussels NATO Summit

Michael Kram, MP for Regina-Wascana, recently returned from the  Joint Committee Meetings of Defence Security Committee (DSC), Economics and Security Committee (ESC), and the Political Committee (PC) in  Brussels, Belgium attended by elected officials from all 32 NATO countries.  A key point of discussion at the summit was the commitment by all alliance members, not merely to reach the current defense spending target of 2% of GDP, but to increase this to 5% by 2035.  "Obviously, if we are going to be spending that much more on defense in a short period of time, we need to be smart about it. We must do it in a way that benefits Canada and Canadian workers. We cannot simply write cheques to the United States, but must focus more on producing our defense needs domestically," Kram said.  Kram also noted the urgency of improving the federal government's approach to procurement.  "Canada has been talking about and mulling about purchasing new fighter jets f...

UPDATE: CONSERVATIVES STAND UP FOR USE OF NATURAL HEALTH PRODUCTS

Over the past year, many of you have reached out to me to express your concerns over the Liberals' Bill C-47, which amended the Food and Drugs Act in such a way as to harm the competitiveness and availability of natural health products in Canada. The concerns I've heard in Regina have been echoed all across the country. Unlike the tone-deaf Liberals, my Conservative colleagues and I have been taking action to try to undo these harmful changes. In the last Parliament, Conservatives introduced Bill C-368 to undo these amendments, but the bill failed to become law due to Mark Carney's calling of the early, snap election. Now, at the start of the fall sitting of Parliament, Conservatives have introduced a new bill with the same wording and intent as the previous one:  Blaine Calkins Introduces Bill to Protect Canadians’ Freedom to Use Natural Health Products September 23, 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ottawa, ON  – Blaine Calkins, C...

MP Kram Slams Federal Inaction on Chinese Canola Tariffs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 14, 2025 Regina, SK —  Michael Kram, Member of Parliament for Regina—Wascana, is calling on the federal government to take immediate and decisive action in response to China’s newly-imposed tariffs on Canadian canola exports. “These punitive tariffs are yet another blow to Canadian farmers who are already facing tight margins and global market uncertainty. Canola is one of Saskatchewan’s most important agricultural exports.  Last year, Canadian canola exports to China exceeded $5 billion . Every day the government delays action is another day farmers lose income, and Canada loses market share,” Kram said. The Chinese government’s decision to impose steep duties on Canadian canola—citing questionable trade and agricultural concerns—has effectively shut the door on one of Canada’s largest agricultural markets. Kram criticized the federal government for what he described as a “slow, negligent, and inadequate” response to the crisis....
