MP KRAM: Trudeau Resignation Changes Nothing

January 6, 2025 - Today is the day for which many people in Regina have waited for a long time: Justin Trudeau has resigned.

While this turns the page on a dark chapter in our nation’s history, ultimately nothing has changed.

Every Liberal MP in power today and every potential Liberal leadership contender played a role in the harm caused to this country over the past decade.

It is the Liberal Party that actively worked to pass into law the job-killing, inflationary carbon tax. It is the Liberal Party that enacted a law quadrupling the tax over the next five years. It is the Liberal Party that actively supported Trudeau’s out-of-control deficit spending. It is the Liberal Party that helped pass catch-and-release bail and house arrest legislation that has made our streets more dangerous.

In ousting Trudeau, the Liberal Party has not had a change of heart on these policies. Their only objection is that Trudeau is no longer electable.

Any government is more than its leader, and this Liberal government remains out of control. The needs of the people of Regina and Saskatchewan for which I have advocated for several years – an end to the carbon tax, the need for more pipelines to export our energy resources and the urgent need for balanced budgets and debt reduction – remain unresolved.  

This cannot go on. Canada needs an election so that Canadians can decide between the Liberals’ carbon tax, or a new Conservative government that will axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget, and stop the crime.

MP Kram Slams Federal Inaction on Chinese Canola Tariffs
